Tinnitus – Ringing In The Ears – Omaha

The human earTinnitus, also known as ringing in the ears, is described by some as being a mere nuisance, while others find the constant noise to be maddening and say that it greatly reduces their quality of life. Tinnitus can be caused by a number of problems, but if you suffer from tinnitus on a daily basis, the root of the problem may lie within your jaw joint.

Because the jaw joint is directly connected to the ears, when misaligned, the joint can put pressure on the tympanic nerve and restrict blood flow to parts of the ear. Think of how it feels when one of your limbs “goes to sleep” because of restricted blood flow. This can happen in the ear too.

Ending Tinnitus Through TMD Treatment

When tinnitus is caused by a problem within the TMJ, the only permanent solution is to correct the position of the jaw joint by adjusting the patient’s bite. This will relieve the pressure on the affected parts of the ear and resolve tinnitus symptoms.
