I did know my problems were 'dental', but I didn't know any more than that. I had seen an oral surgeon to discuss some surgical options but I didn't want to go through that.

I used the Internet to get to know everything about TMJ symptoms, TMJ treatments and who could help me who was not too far away from where I live. There were many dentists coming up on a Google search, but Dr. Roubal happened to be in Omaha, which was perfect for me.

I emailed the office and I think it was Jody who replied that I could definitely come in for a consultation and I set up an appointment. It took between 30 and 60 minutes and Dr. Roubal made it clear to me when he said that due to the complexity of my situation, he wasn't sure if he could help me, but he would definitely try.

He showed me the anatomy of what was going on with several x-rays and with all the state of the art equipment in his practice. Now I could see for myself...

It took quite some effort to convince my husband when I told him about the cost of treatment for this. At any rate, I was prepared to pay for an option that didn't involve surgery, because that really scares me. Fortunately, my husband supported my desire to move ahead.

I started with a removable appliance to move my teeth into the right position and results kicked in after a couple of weeks. From that moment on, every time I left Dr. Roubal's office I felt better and better. It felt wonderful to see the progress.

Then we started talking about an orthodontic solution; now I'm in braces. It will probably take two to three years to go through the process, but most importantly: I'm not in pain anymore and my life got a whole lot better!
