Migraines in Omaha

TMJ Disorder is known to cause headache symptoms ranging from nagging periodic headaches to migraine-strength headaches that seem to last for days. Migraines are more painful than the normal tension headache and many times patients aren’t able to find permanent relief from their migraines.

How Are Migraines And TMD Linked?

Man suffering from a migraineSince TMJ is a problem within the jaw, it may seem a bit odd that migraines are a symptom of a condition that isn’t related to the brain or skull. However, what many don’t know is that because the temporomandibular joint is connected to a variety of other parts of the body (including skull), patients can experience pain known as referred pain in other areas of their bodies that is actually caused by their misaligned jaw joints. Even though the pain felt with a migraine is felt in the skull, forehead, neck, and eyes, the pain may originate from a problem within the jaw joint that is connected to these regions of the head through nerves, blood vessels, tendons, and muscles.
